FROM THE DESK OF ROGER NEWELL, PRESIDENT ACF CENTRAL FL. CHAPTER

Greetings Fellow Culinarians,

I hope this message finds all of you doing well, and hope that you and your families had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

As we embark on a new year, there are a few changes in the way the chapter will operate this year.

To start with, we are making an attempt to go as “green” as possible. Obviously we can’t change the world, but every little bit helps. That means that we will be doing most of our communicating via email. If you have changed your address, we encourage you to please go to our chapter website, on the home page, bottom left and insert your address. Most of our mailings will come from the chapter data base, with two very important exceptions.

The 2008 Chef of the Year was chosen this year by electronic ballot, and we are going to continue with that process. At the end of this year, there will be two different ballots sent out. This first will be the ballot for a new slate of officers, and the second will be for Chef of the Year, and Culinarian of the Year. I would encourage anyone who has changed their email address, or just started using email, to also make sure the national office has the correct address. For election ballots, it is much easier to use the national office data base, than to re-invent the wheel; that way only qualified voters receive a ballot.

The online system is completely anonymous and secure, and our chapter accountant is the only person with access to the ballots. I just want to impress upon you that if you want a voice in these decisions, it is imperative that we have access to your correct email address via the national office.

Also another major change made this year is the criteria for Chef of the Year and Culinarian of the Year. We are planning to post these on the web site, and hopefully they will be in place before the end of February. We will also have hard copies available at our monthly meetings. I would encourage you to come to a monthly meeting, as we have some very interesting and educational pieces planned for 2009.

In closing, I want to take this opportunity to thank all our vendor members for their support this past year. The community fund raisers, and the educational in-services that we do would not be possible without their continuing support.

Stay safe, and hope to see you soon.

Chef Roger
