Fact Sheet

The Children’s Home Society of Florida (CHS) is the state’s largest and one of the oldest non-profit providers of services to children and families.
CHS’s range of social services includes foster care, adoption, pregnancy services, family and individual counseling, child abuse prevention, emergency shelters, group homes, case management, and treatment for developmentally disabled children.
Founded in 1902 as a Jacksonville orphanage by Reverend D.W. Comstock and Reverend W.E. Boggs, CHS now operates from more than 200 locations with more than 2,100 staff members.
The primary goal of CHS services is to strengthen families and keep them together—but not in those cases where a child might be endangered during the healing process.
More than 30,000 children have been permanently adopted through CHS.
CHS serves more than 50,000 children and 48,000 adults each year.
CHS is nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children, a distinction awarded to less than one percent of child-caring agencies.
Headquartered in Winter Park, Fla., CHS serves communities all across the state through division offices in Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Fort Pierce, Jacksonville, Miami, Melbourne, Ocala, Orlando, Panama City, Pensacola, South Daytona, Tallahassee, Tampa and West Palm Beach.
CHS President and CEO is Dave Bundy.
